CASINOS
Buying Chips and Betting ChipsA casino can be compared to a country. Different casinos have different rules, culture and language. And in the casino each table is like the province, each province has its own dialects. If you don't want to feel outcast or like a foreigner you have to learn and understand the culture and language then you can be treated like you belong there and not some outsider. As some tips to help you with this, try the following: In any casino you can not use your money directly; you have to exchange it for chips. There are strict rules you need to apply inside the casino, never give your money to the dealer. Dealers are not allowed to take anything from the hands of the players. Dealers are not even allowed to shake hands with the players. What you will do is put the money on the layout. The dealer will spread the money from the layout to the camera to see. The floor person will check your money on the layout. The floor person is someone, either a man or a woman who's not in uniform, responsible for supervising various tables in a pit. A group of tables is called a pit. These are the tables with the same games on it. These tables are placed in a designated area in the casino. The person higher than the floor person is the pit boss. After the floor person checks the amount the player wants to exchange for chips, the dealer will now hand over the equivalent amount of the buy-in cash for chips. The money will now be put into a drop-box, where money is collected from the table. The floor person will double check the chips that the dealer will hand over to the player to ensure that the dealer counted correctly. After the player collected his chips, he can now start betting. Chips just like money come in different colors and denominations. Here are the chips most common in color and denominations: $1 chip - color white (or blue in some other casinos); $5 chips - color red; $25 chips - color green; $100 chips - color black; $500 chips - color purple; $1,000 chips - color gold or sometimes grey; and last $2,000 chips - color orange. Not only in colors are the chips different but also in sizes. Chips $1 up to chips $500 is of the same size and chips $1,000 and up are larger in size. Now it's betting time. But wait, remember this, if you are going to bet with different denominations don't forget to place the biggest denomination at the bottom and so on. Take for example you will bet $631, the purple chip should be at the bottom, followed by the black chip, on top of it is the green chip, then the red chip and lastly the white chip on top. However, if you are new to the casino ask someone if you do not know something. Remember to avoid getting yourself upset and always remember you are there for fun. |
